The major attraction of this 8 Days Tanzania Safari is the visit to Lake Natron, the lake is a unique inland lake located in northern Tanzania that is home to a thriving ecosystem of salt marsh and surrounding hills. The lake has many special features that make it stand out, including being extremely alkaline and home to salt-loving microorganisms and alkaline tilapia. The area is also known for its pink-hued flamingos, which can only be found breeding in Lake Natron’s freshwater wetland.

Lake Natron is known for its unique ecosystem and wildlife, but perhaps the most awe-inspiring sight is the vast flocks of flamingos that call it home. As the only regular breeding area for these beautiful birds in East Africa.

Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO): 

After clearing customs and immigration, you will be greeted by your safari guide.  Transfer to your accommodation in Arusha to check in and freshen up. We have suggested bellow a comfortable accommodations based on your budget from 3 stars, 4stars or 5stars.

If you arrive in morning time, you will have rest at your hotel and after lunch, take a compliment short tour of Arusha town. Visit the local market for an authentic experience, and if time permits, visit the Arusha Declaration Museum to learn about Tanzania’s history. Experience the local culture by interacting with the friendly locals.

Evening enjoy a welcome dinner at your accommodation or local restaurant to try local dishes like NyamaChoma(grilled meat) or/and Ugali(cornmeal).

Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park:

Morning: After breakfast, departs for Tarangire National Park, a scenic drive of about 2 hours.  On arrival at Tarangire, start your first game drive. The park is known for its large herds of elephants and iconic baobab trees.

Lunch: Picnic lunch in the park. Enjoy your meal while watching wildlife.

Afternoon: Continue your game drive. You can expect to see elephants, giraffes, zebras, lions, and various bird species. Don’t forget your camera—the landscapes and wildlife are stunning!

Evening: Return to Accommodation if you stay inside the park or leave Tarangire in the late afternoon and head to your lodge at Karatu town. Settle into your accommodation and enjoy a relaxing evening under the African stars.

Day 3: Tarangire to Lake Natron Maasai Community

After breakfast, you’ll depart for Lake Natron, a striking alkaline lake lying at the base of the impressive Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano. This journey will take you off the beaten path, through quaint villages and breathtaking landscapes.

Upon arrival at Lake Natron, the stark beauty of the landscape will take your breath away. The lake’s shimmering red hues, caused by the presence of salt-loving organisms, create a visual spectacle. One of the main attractions at Lake Natron is the flamingo population, which gathers in large numbers. Here, you’ll have the chance to view these elegant birds as they feed on the algae-rich waters.
After lunch, you may choose to hike to the nearby Ngare Sero Waterfall, a hidden gem that offers a refreshing dip in its crystalline pools—a perfect way to relax and cool off after your explorations. As evening approaches, settle in at your accommodation, which might include a cozy lodge or a campsite, allowing you to soak in the vastness of the African night sky.

Day 4: Lake Natron Maasai Village Full Day

Day program: The main focus today is to follow the activities of the Maasai people. Arrive when the Maasai are getting their cattle out for gazing, your personal Maasai guide is explaining the life, past and today’s life of the Tanzania Maasai, Men will join other warriors for grazing and will guide you along their paths and explain your typical medicinal plants, extraordinary trees, tracks and the local wildlife. In addition to that, the usage of local tools, hunting techniques and fire preparation is a part your unforgettable bush excursion.

Women will join other Maasai women for their daily activities including fetching water, building small house and later you will learn how the do milking from the cows.

Today’s Highlights:  Maasai Boma and millions of flamingos on the lake.

During the sunset a group of Maasai men and woman gathering around for the traditional singing & dancing performances. This evening experience a traditional Maasai goat ceremony and join them dancing.

Day 5: Lake Natron to Serengeti National Park

Morning: Early Morning Game Drive, Wake up early for a sunrise game drive in Tarangire. Look out for nocturnal animals returning to their hiding spots and early risers in the bush.

Breakfast: Return to your lodge for breakfast in you stayed inside the park, then departs for Serengeti National Park, a drive of approximately 4-5 hours. Enjoy the scenic views and wildlife that you might spot along the way.

Lunch: Picnic lunch in the park. Enjoy your meal while watching wildlife.

Afternoon: After lunch, embark on your afternoon game drive in one of the most famous national parks in the world. Visit the Seronera River Valley, known for its abundance of wildlife and great leopard sightings.

Evening: Dinner at your lodge or camp. Spend the night listening to the sounds of the African wilderness.

Day 6: Serengeti National Park Full Day

Morning: Full-Day Game Drive, after breakfast, enjoys a full-day game drive in the Serengeti. Discover various ecosystems, from savannahs to riverine forests. Keep an eye out for the Big Five—lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhinoceros.

Lunch: Picnic lunch in the park. Enjoy your meal while watching wildlife.

Afternoon: Continue your game drive, chasing wildlife and perhaps witnessing a dramatic predator-prey interaction. Visit kopjes (rocky outcrops) where lions often rest.

Evening: Dinner at your lodge or camp. Spend the night listening to the sounds of the African wilderness.

Day 7: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

Morning: Sunrise Game Drive, wake up early for a sunrise game drive. This is a magical time to spot wildlife as they are most active.  

Option: Serengeti Balloon Safari

Breakfast: Return to your lodge for breakfast, then check out. Depart for Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with a drive of about 2-3 hours.  On the way, enjoy the scenic beauty of the highlands and stop at viewpoints for photos. Descend into the crater for an exciting afternoon game drive. With its unique ecosystem, the crater is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including black rhinos, lions, and numerous wildebeests.

Lunch: Enjoy lunch at a designated picnic site inside the crater.

Evening: After your game drive, ascend back to the rim of the crater and head to your accommodation for dinner on the crater rim or Karatu town.

Day 8: Mto wa Mbu Maasai Boma Visit & Departure:

Late Morning:  Drive from hotel and head to Mto wa Mbu, a vibrant village known for its cultural diversity. Visit a local Maasai Boma to learn about the Maasai culture, traditions, and lifestyle. Participate in a cooking class or traditional dances. After lunch, depart Mto wa Mbu and head back to Arusha, approximately a 2-hour drive.  Arrive in Arusha and have some time for last-minute souvenir shopping in local craft shops. 

Evening: Departure: Depending on your flight schedule, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure.
